Connectivity provider Satcom Direct has confirmed its first installation of Inmarsat’s Jet ConneX for Hongkong Jet, a subsidiary of HNA-owned Deer Jet. The Ka-band service, powered by Inmarsat’s Global Xpress satellite constellation, is being supplied to a privately-owned Gulfstream G650ER, managed and maintained by Hongkong Jet.
The two companies also have additional agreements in place for the next year for more services on a larger, unnamed platform.
“We have supplied connectivity to the G650ER for some time and upgrading to the Jet ConneX offering was a natural next step to fulfill the owner’s growing connectivity needs,” said Satcom Direct President David Greenhill. “SD is the world’s largest reseller of Jet ConneX and we have exceptional experience in managing, monitoring and delivering the solution.”
A representative for the company said Satcom Direct currently supplied about 70% of the world’s Jet ConneX service.
Installed at Gulfstream’s Long Beach, California, facility, the system was activated by SD in early summer. The Satcom Direct router delivers the high-speed connectivity throughout the G650ER cabin to all passenger devices. In addition, data integrity is maintained by the SD suite of cyber security software solutions.
HNA Group’s family of chartered jet companies has the largest business jet fleet in Asia.
