Garmin’s OnePak across multiple cockpit devices (Garmin).

Garmin has expanded its Garmin Navigation Database to cover the entire Americas with the new addition of South America. Garmin said that the new navigation data would be available by October.

According to a spokesperson, the addition of South America to the previous North and Central America offerings came about because of high customer demand. The company was “not ready to disclose [its] plans for future coverage.”

The South America update includes data such as instrument procedures, frequencies and airport data. It can be purchased in a single update for or as part of an annual subscription for GTN- and GNS-series products.

The South America navigation data will also be available in the Americas OnePak suite of Garmin subscription services which additionally includes IFR en-route charts, VFR sectional charts, terrain and basemap. The purchase of the OnePak subscription also provides existing Garmon Pilot subscribers with an upgrade to Garmin Pilot OFR Premium that includes coverage in South America.
